Lot # 1348 - Frammento di rame della Statua della Libertà Barra di rame (96,1 x 27,2 x 2,7 mm) con iscrizione: FRAGMENT DE CUIVRÉ DE LA STATUE COLOSSALE DE LA LIBERTÉ EXÉCUTÉE PAR A. BARTHOLDI 1875-1883 - SOUVENIR D'UNE VISITE AUX TRAVAUX. A sinistra, uno stemma con il monogramma di Auguste Bartholdi. Nella sua custodia originale reca l'iscrizione a penna: "Fragment de la statue colossale de la Liberté - don des héritiers d'A. Lalance". (g 56,68). La Statua della Libertà, progettata e costruita da Auguste Bartholdi su una struttura metallica di Gustave Eiffel, fu fabbricata a Parigi e poi trasportata a pezzi a New York. Fu poi riassemblata nella sua sede definitiva e inaugurata il 28 ottobre 1886. Questo frammento di rame proviene dall'atelier parigino e fu probabilmente presentato da Bartholdi nel 1883, data riportata sull'oggetto. Il destinatario, Auguste Lalance (1830-1920), era un industriale alsaziano che fondò gli Établissements d'Impression, de Teinture et de La blanchiments de Pfastatt nel 1870 e poi un'azienda elettrica a Parigi nel 1888.
