Rev. Maximianus on horseback to right, hurling spear at captive fallen under horse and praying for mercy with the raised right arm, L H (date) across fields. Geissen - . In this tetradrachm of his eighth year of reign (292-293 AD), Maximian appears on the reverse as a fighting triumphant knight trampling a fallen foe to the ground: may be in memory of the recent expedition against the Germans. A well-structured coin, very rare and of impressive provenance.
