Tetradrachm (Bronze, 22.90 mm, 12.83 g) dated RY 5 of Elagabalus (= 221-222) ΜΑΡ ΑΥΡ ΑΛЄΞΑΝΔΡΟϹ ΚΑΙϹΑΡ Draped and cuirassed bare bust of Severus Alexander right. Rev. Personified Nilus bare chest reclining left, wearing lotus wreath, holding reed leaning to left in the right hand and cornucopia on the left arm, from which emerges genius crowning Nilus with wreath, three little genii on his body, nilometer and genius to left, L Є (date) in exergue, under the ground line. The model of this reverse is probably inspired to the allegorical types of the Hellenistic sculpture.
Oncee again a tetradrachm of Alexander Severus as Caesar of Elagabalus. On the reverse is the uncommon canonical personification of Nilus with a Genius emerging from the cornucopia and three or four other small Genii left who are busy with the Nilometre work.
