Venus in Taurus (night house), diademed and draped bust of Aphrodite left; thunderbolt (?) before her, bull butting left below; L - H (date) across field. Geissen 1492 var. (date position). Here we have the first example of the rare, fortunate, and highly prized series of the zodiac entirely performed on the reverses of Alexandrian drachms in the eighth year of Antoninus Pius' reign (144-145 AD) with results of excellent stylistic quality, as in this combination of Aphrodite-Venus with the elegant bull pawing to the left, repeated with different minting in nr. 131 of this collection.
