Isis Pelagia sailing right, holding a sistrum and billowing sail; L IZ (date) across field. Geissen 1693. Dattari-Savio 8184, pl. 112 (this coin). RPC IV.4, 1479/19 (this coin + ill.) Emmett 1403. Cf. Savio A., Tetradrammi alessandrini, pp. 82-86. Toned. Good Very Fine. Ex Giovanni Dattari Collection, Il Cairo, 8184. Ex Naville Numismatics Ltd. 41, 24.06.2018, Lot 351. Isis Pelagia (not Faria because there is no lighthouse) is found only in the year 17 of Antoninus Pius on the Alexandrian tetradrachms (cf. Emmett 1403). The reference to the commercial port of Alexandria, the most important in the Mediterranean, is clear. Another valuable example, formerly from the Dattari collection.
