Egypt. Alexandria. Hadrian, 117-138. Diobol (Bronze, 24.83 mm, 9.52 g). Dated RY 12 (= 127/8). ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙ - ΤΡΑΙ ΑΔΡΙΑ [ϹΕΒ] Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right. Rev. L - ΔωΔЄK Demeter standing facing, head left, holding ears of corn and torch. Dattari-Savio 7601. RPC III, 5722. Geissen 986. Milne 1271. BMC 682. Emmett 1119. Brown patina with green deposits. Good Very Fine. Ex Spink & Son, London, July 1994. Diobol with an imperial portrait of excellent style on obverse, but especially a wonderful original brick-red "desert" patina. On reverse the canonical figure of divine Demeter who prunes nature's crops and harvests.
