The coins of Recanati were first classified in 1822 by Monaldo Leopardi, the father of the renowned poet Giacomo. Now, a new work has emerged that reassesses the entire Recanati coinage, arranging it chronologically from the first emission, which can be precisely dated—thanks to historical documents—to 1450, continuing sporadically throughout the rest of the century.
Recanati’s coinage is thus part of the rich numismatic landscape of 15th-century Marche, alongside Ancona, Camerino, Fermo, Macerata, and Ascoli.
Lorenzo Bellesia’s work reconsiders the entire subject, also revisiting all previous literature on the matter. - Condition
