L. Plautius Plancus. AR Denarius, 47 BC. Obv. Facing head of Medusa with dishevelled hair; below, L. PLAVTIVS. Rev. Aurora flying right, head facing slightly left, holding palm branch and reins in each hand and conducing four horses of the Sun; below, [PLANCVS]. Cr. 453/1c; B. 14. 3.76 g. 18.00 mm. Great metal. An outstanding example, brilliant with underlying luster and lightly toned, with golden hues. Very minor insignificant areas of flatness, otherwise. EF.
