LT first series. AR Victoriatus. Luceria mint, 214 BC. Obv. Laureate head of Jupiter right; below, archaic L. Rev. Victory standing right, crowning trophy; between, T; in exergue, ROMA. Cr. 98A/1c. AR. 3.41 g. 18.50 mm. RR. Very rare. Sound metal, full weight and broad flan. A superb example, perfectly centred, brilliant and lightly toned, possibly among the finest known. Minor scratch of reverse die, on exergual line, otherwise. EF.
