None of the authors who have examined the Gazoldo mint in general or this interesting imitation in particular (to name a few: Promis, Kunz, Papadopoli, Perini, compilers of the CNI, Magnaguti, Gamberini, Pesce, Navarrini, Guidetti) seem to have noted that, in addition to the modification of the legends compared to the original, this imitation presents a small but important variation in the design of the obverse, which introduces a complete monogram of the name HlPPOLlTI into the so-called stylized castle (which is more likely a gate, symbol of IANUA).
