Another image of Zeus but as Sarapis on the reverse of a very rare tetradrachm of Tranquillina, Gordianus III’s wife. It previously belonged to the celebrated Dattari collection. Sarapis is portraited with peculiar style and attributes: thick and heavy paludamentum and big kalathos, as well as the sceptre with a lotus-flower-shaped tip, in spite of the imperial eagle. Very scarce and fascinating coin.
