Ex Jean-Pierre Righetti collection. Ex Münzen & Medaillen Deutschland/Nomos AG 12, 11.04.2003, lot 639. Maximus, son of Maximinus I and Cecilia Paulina, was elevated by his father to the rank of Caesar (heir to the throne) in the early days of 235 or 236 A.D., since the coins dedicated to him appears only in the year 2 of his reign (235-236 A.D.). Maximus was immediately militarized by his warlike father and shared his tragic death in May 238 AD in Aquileia at the hands of his own troops who rebelled following the failure to conquer the city. However, this is a very rare coin from the Dattari collection.
