Tetradrachm (Billon, 23.10 mm, 11.89 g) dated RY 5 of Elagabalus (= 221-222) ΜΑΡ ΑΥΡ ΑΛЄΞΑΝΔΡΟϹ ΚΑΙϹΑΡ Draped and cuirassed bare head bust of Severus Alexander right. Rev. Athena Nikephoros draped standing facing, wearing long crested Attic helmet, head turned to left, holding Nike crowning her on the right hand and oval shield to right set on ground with the left hand, L Є (date) to left. Another Severan tetradrachm of great rarity issued by Elagabalus in his fifth year of ruling (221-222 AD) in the name of his cousin Alexander Severus, adopted by him and elevated to the dignity of Caesar, i.e. heir to the throne, who reached it, acclaimed by the army, after Elagabalus' tragic end. On reverse Athena, crowned by Nike, greets the advent of the new Caesar.
