Egypt. Alexandria. Lucius Verus, 161-169. Tetradrachm (Billon, 23 mm, 10.43 g) dated RY 5 (= 164-165) Λ ΑΥΡΗΛ[ΙΟϹ] ΟΥΗΡΟϹ ϹЄ[Β] Laureate bust of Lucius Verus right, slightly draped on the left shoulder. Rev. ΑΡΜЄ to left, ΝΙΑ to right. Throphy composed by helmet and cuirass and two crossed oval shields with spear for each side, Armenian captive with bound hands behind his back, lying below at ground, head wearing Phrygian cap turned to left, L Є (date) across fields. Of the two 'Augusti' co-rulers from 161 to 169 AD, Lucius Verus, portrayed on the obverse, was the commander in charge of the security and defence of the imperial territory, and in 164 AD the first phase of the conflict in Armenia was victoriously concluded, celebrated on the reverse of the tetradrachm by means of a military trophy with an Armenian prisoner at his feet and the historical indication APMENIA.
