Egypt. Alexandria. Antoninus Pius, 138-161. Hemidrachm (Bronze, 29.30 mm, 13.90 g). Dated RY 5 (= 141/2). ΑΥΤ Κ Τ ΑΙΛ ΑΔΡ ΑΝΤωΝΙΝΟϹ [ΕΥ]ϹΕΒ Radiate-headed bust wearing cuirass and paludamentum right. Rev. Isis Pelagia standing right, holding sail and sistrum; L / Ε (date) in left field. Geissen -. Dattari-Savio 2662, pl. III (obv.) & 8548 (this coin). RPC IV.4, 585.2 (this coin cited and illustrated). Emmett 1724. Staffieri 41a. Near Very Fine. Very Rare. Apparently only two specimens known and listed in RPC. Ex Giovanni Dattari Collection, 2662. Ex Naville Numismatics Ltd. 42, 22. 07.2018, lot 335. According to RPC IV. 4 this coin is one of the only two hemidrachm known belonging to the year 5 of Antoninus Pius (141-142 AD), with radiate bust on obverse and Isis Pelagia on reverse (see no. 41a of Staffieri catalogue), coming from the Dattari collection as well as cited and illustrated by RPC IV. 4. A well-centred coin with dark brown satin original patina.
