The complex scene on the reverse of this drachm issued in year 18 of the reign of Antoninus Pius (154-155 AD) probably refers to the regular recovery of the production and sea traffic of cereals produced in Egypt, with the reopening of trade relations between Rome (with the Tiber) and Egypt (with the Nile) in concord after the settlement of an uprising of the Egyptian agricultural class attested by the edict of the prefect Sempronius Liberalis of 29 August 154 AD. (Cf. Vogt I, p. 129).
