On the reverse of this drachm, Askelepios, the patron deity and guarantor of health, appears to us in his human dimension as the guardian of the reference hospitals (think of the famous one on the island of Cos), sacrificing on an altar in Egyptian form. Here the importance of health care in Alexandrian philosophy is demonstrated.
