The obverse of this rare drachm, excellently centred and preserved, depicts a portrait of Hadrian, consistent with the hand of the master engraver of Hadrian's nude head (cf. nrs. 89-90 of this collection), who sometimes engraved on the head also a radiate crown, but his "signature" is evident both from the unmistakable style of his hair and his left-facing face, which is one constant feature of his.
