Vitellius (69 AD). AE As, Rome mint. Obv. A VITELLIVS GERM IMP AVG PM TR P. Laureate head right. Rev. SECVRITAS P ROMANI/ SC. Securitas, draped, seated left, head leaning on arm, in front of altar. RIC I (2nd ed.) 175 (R3). AE. 12.82 g. 28.30 mm. RRR. Extremely rare. An outstanding example, sharply struck on a broad flan, from masterly engraved dies. A strong portrait of great beauty and superb deep emerald green patina, darker on legends. Short and shallow hair-line flan crack on reverse, at eight o' clock, otherwise. about EF.
