Sicily. Syracuse, Hieronymos. Circa 215-214. Hemistater (Gold, 16.31 mm, 4.25 g). Wreathed head of Persephone left; behind, wreath. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ / IEPΩNYMOY Winged thunderbolt; above, MI. HGC 2, 1564. Holloway, “The Thirteen-months coinage of Hieronymos of Syracuse”, 1 (O1/R1 - only three specimens recorded). Coll. De Luynes 1383. Buceti, 442, 1557. HGC 2, 1564. Slightly bent flan with some scratches, otherwise, Good Very Fine. Of the highest rarity, apparently only the fourth known specimen of this variety.
