Egypt. Alexandria. Julia Mamaea, mother of Severus Alexander, 222-235. Drachm (Bronze, 34.4 mm, 21.95 g). Dated RY 10 of Severus Alexander (= 230/1). ΙΟΥ ΜΑΜΑΙΑ ϹΕΒ ΜΗΤΕ ϹΕΒ Κ ϹΤP[Α] Draped bust right, wearing stephane. Rev. Dikaiosyne standing facing, head left, holding scales and cornucopia, to left palm branch; L Ι in right field. We are still in the celebratory year of the imperial 'decennalia' of 230-231 AD with the calm portrait of Julia Mamaea on the obverse. The reverse shows the well-known Dikaiosyne - Justice – goddess Moneta, a serious and admonitory deity recurring in Alexandrian coinage. A drachm of great rarity (Emmett 5).
