Minerva, standing to the right, holds a spear and an olive branch; to her left, a crowned putto holds a torch and the coats of arms of France and Savoy; in exergue, PAX SABAUDIAE/ MDCXCVI. Led by Louis XIV in 1696, this reconciliation was sealed by a new dynastic union: that of the Duke of Burgundy and Marie-Adélaïde of Savoy, the parents of the future Louis XV.
