

Mn. Aquillius. AR Denarius serratus, Rome mint, 71 BC. Obv. Helmeted bust of Virtus right; on the left, III·VIR; on the right, VIRTVS. Rev. Warrior, holding shield in left hand and raising up fallen female figure (the Sicily) with right hand; on the left, MN·F·MN·N (both MN ligate); on the right, MN·AQVIL (MN ligate); in exergue, SICIL. Cr. 401/1; B. 2 (Aquillia). 3.94 g. 18.50 mm. Banker's mark on obverse. A nice example of full weight and brilliant metal. EF.
