Gallienus (253-268). AV Binio, Rome mint, third officina, c. 260/1-262 AD. Obv. GALLIENVS AVG. Radiate head right. Rev. AETERNITAS AVG. Sol standing left, raising right hand and holding globe; in left field, Γ. RIC IV -; cf. MIR 36, 576a (Antoninianus); Calicó –; Biaggi –. 4.34 g. 23.00 mm. RRRR. Of the highest rarity, one of the very few specimens known, apparently the only with the officina letter on reverse. Coin with a long time pedigree. Struck on broad flan, superb and lightly toned. Holed in antiquity and professionally restored. Light scratches and metal flaw. About EF/Good VF.
