Geta (209-212). AE Sestertius, 210 AD. Obv. IMP CAES P SEPT GETA PIVS AVG. Laureate head right. Rev. PONTIF TR P II COS II SC. Caracalla and Geta, both in military attire, standing front face to face, clasping hands and each holding vertical spear, while being crowned respectively by Liber to left and Hercules to right. RIC IV 155. AE. 25.72 g. 32.60 mm. RR. Very rare and fascinating issue. Enchanting emerald green patina. Minor earthy deposits and corrosions. Good VF/VF. This sestertius of Geta, minted in 210 AD, presents an exquisite reverse scene that captures the essence of familial and imperial relations during the Severan era. The reverse portrays a poignant moment between Geta and his brother Caracalla, both clad in military attire, standing face to face and clasping hands in a symbolic gesture of unity and mutual respect.
