This issuer was the son of the consul of BC 54 and, like his father, belonged to the Pompeian party, but returning to Italy in BC 46 he was pardoned by Caesar. After the latter's death, he followed Brutus to Macedonia and was amongst those condemned under the lex Paedia. He was placed in command of a fleet and won a decisive victory on the day of the first battle of Philippi, for which he was saluted imperator. In BC 40 he was reconciled to M. Antony, who made him governor of Bithynia.
