Greek Italy. Cosa or Neapolis (?). AE Quartuncia, c. 273-250 BC. Obv. COSA(?). Head of Cosa left, wearing crested helmet. Rev. COSANO(?). Bridled horse’s head left. Vecchi EC 4.1 (?); HN Italy 211 (?). AE. 3.82 g. 17.50 mm. RR. A superb example. Pleasant light green and ochre patina. About EF/Good VF. The unclear ethnic is possibly COSANO, but it isn't sure; there is the possibility that it is ROMANO (RRC 17/1a-i). The entire RRC 17 series may have been struck at the Latin colony of Cosa in Etruria, whose coins share the same types and metrology.
