ANONYMOUS. Time of Trajan to Hadrian (98-138). Quadrans. Dardanian mines issue.
Obv: ROMA.
Helmeted and draped bust of Roma right.
Rev: DARDANICI.
Female figure (Dardania?) standing left, holding grain ears.
RIC 1016 (Hadrian).
Among the many Quadrantes minted since Trajan's reign, those bearing on the reverse the names of mines in Pannonia, Dalmatia and Dardania in the Balkan region are particularly interesting. It is suggested that such small denominations were struck in favor of miners, as change for their pay or donatives.
Condition: Near very fine.
Weight: 2.43 g.
Diameter: 17 mm.
