The medal commemorates the death of Lucrezia Capranica in 1750. The two F F on the coat of arms of Fano refer to the city's Latin name 'Fanum Fortunae', while the dog carved on the sarcophagus represents the coat of arms of the Castracani family, and the cypresses that of the Capranica family.
