A. Plautius. AR Denarius, 55 BC. Obv. A. PLAVTIVS AED. CVR. [S.C] Turreted head of Cybele right. Rev. Bacchius kneels right, with camel at his side, extending olive branch; in exergue, BACCHIVS; on right, IVDAEVS. Cr. 431/1; B. 13; RRSC D 223. AR. 4.01 g. 17.50 mm. Scarce. Sound metal and full weight. Choice and brilliant. Slightly off-center. About EF. Bacchius, unknown to history under that name at least, might be Aristobulos II of Jerusalem (who submitted to Pompey) or Dionysios of Tripolis.
