Coins 345 Gordian II Africanus (238 AD). AE Sestertius. D/ IMP CAES M ANT GORDIANVS AFR AVG. Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind. R/ PROVIDENTIA AVGG SC. Providentia, her legs crossed, standing left, leaning on column, holding wand over globe. RIC 4 var. (Providentia holding cornucopiae); C. 6 var. (same). AE. g. 20.94 mm. 31.00 RR. A very rare and apparently unpublished variety. An attractive example, in excellent condition for issue. Dark green brown patina with lighter green spots. Good VF/VF.
