Great Britain. George III, 1760-1820. 'Spade' Guinea, 1798 (Gold, 24.56 mm, 8.35 g). London, fifth laureate head. GEORGIVS III DEI GRATIA. Laureate head of George III right. Rev. ·M·B·F·ET·H·REX·F·D·B·ET·L·D·S·R·I·A·T·ET·E· Spade shaped crowned quartered shield of arms, date 1798 below. Spink 3729. Farey 1370. Friedberg 356. KM 609. High grade coin, fewer haymarks usually found on the type, with an astonishing gold hue in the fields. Good Extremely Fine. The Latin legends translate to on obverse "George III by the Grace of God", continuing on the reverse in abbreviated Latin which if shown in full reads "Magnae Britanniae Franciae et Hiberniae Rex Fidei Defensor Brun et Lunebergen-sis Dux, Sacri Romani Imperii Archi-Thesaurius et Elector" and translates as "King of Great Britain, France and Ireland, Defender of the Faith, Duke of Brunswick and Luneberg".
