BAKTRIA. Indo-Greek Kingdom. Menander I, 165/55-130 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26.17 mm, 9.54 g) Indian standard, uncertain mint in Paropamisadai or Gandhara, circa 155-130 BC. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΣΩΤΗΡΟΣ around, ΜΕΝΑΝΔΡΟΥ in exergue. Draped bust of Menander right, wearing diadem. Rev. “Maharajasa tratarasa Menamdrasa” around in Karoshti (“Of the Great King Menander the Savior”) Athena Alkidemos draped, advancing left, holding shield and drapery on the left arm, brandishing thunderbolt in the right hand and holding drapery on the same arm, Σ to left, monogram to right.
